ONCB® Volunteer Opportunities
ONCB encourages all certificants to consider the many volunteer opportunities available.
As a volunteer you:
- Have the opportunity to guide the future success of the ONCB certification programs.
- Contribute your knowledge to the orthopaedic nurses community.
- Develop lasting relationships with colleagues from around the country.
- Learn how the certification exams are developed and maintained.
Review the opportunities below. Submit your completed Willingness-to-Serve Form.
Recertification Committee
The Recertification Committee processes all audits of recertification applications. Audit review is important to the continuing validity of ONCB’s three credentials. New members of this committee will serve a 3-year-term. A mentored orientation occurs during the first year of service, when the new committee member is paired with an experienced member for audits. Each member receives approximately 5 audits per year, making the time commitment for this volunteer opportunity relatively low. Applications are currently being accepted for these positions. Interested persons should complete a Willingness to Serve Form available on the ONCB Web site (www.oncb.org), and forward it to the board office (330 N. Wabash Ave., Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60611; fax 312-673-6971; email oncb@oncb.org).
Item Writing
Members of the task force will receive instruction on writing multiple-choice questions and will spend 2 days writing new items for the ONC® and ONP-C® exams. This volunteer opportunity represents an excellent investment in the future of the ONCB exams, and helps ensure their continued validity as a measure of orthopaedic nursing practice. Interested certificants should complete a Willingness to Serve Form and forward it with a copy of their current resume/curriculum vita to the board office (330 N. Wabash Ave., Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60611; fax 312-673-6971; email oncb@oncb.org).
